The Key Competencies Revisited.

Today we organised the things we know are important for having success at school under the "experts" headings. We did it three times and each time it looked different!

Lola's Record Player

Today Lola brought along her record player and a couple of records. We tried to imagine what it would be like to try doing all the things we do with music today (like going for a run), using a record player!
We listened to the Wombles Song and Lola.

What's a Typewriter?

We read about Joy Cowley using a type writer this week and someone said,
"What's a typewriter?"

I remember my mum playing this orchestral piece to me on a record once. What's a record? Well that's another whole story...

International Read Aloud Day

Wednesday was International Read Aloud Day. Room 17 celebrated this by reading big books to children in year one classes. Most of the books were by Joy Cowley. We chose Joy's books because they are fun for children to listen to.
We had to read the books with interesting voices to keep the children interested. Jules said,
"You certainly succeeded, the children were loving the experience."
We also asked the children questions about the story and talked about the pictures with them.
