Is it a Stool or a Musical Instrument?

This merry band of musicians created a wake up call for us on Friday morning. Who knew furniture could be so interesting?

Fabulous Fragrances - Perfumes and Potions

On Friday we made a special perfume.
The  ingredients were clematis, rose, kiwifruit, strawberry and of course, water.

Term Four - Here We Come!

Welcome back to life and learning in Room 17. What amazing Spring holiday weather we had this year. I enjoyed 5 days on the West Coast and I didn't need to wear a raincoat once!
A special welcome today to Millie who has joined us for the rest of the year. Millie has come from Yorkshire in England. This morning she was welcomed formally at the powhiri.

Dear Spring... Part 2

Dear Spring

Oh dear Spring, I wish you will turn this sad place to a happy place. On the blog our front cover is about you, so can you turn the sad face to the happy face please? I think of you being sunny but you are rainy. I wish Will's old man doesn’t get hit again.

From William F.

Dear Spring

I think of you as cold and sometimes warm. You spring me up and I love how you let the baby animals come out and play. Did you know that my birthday is in spring? That is another reason why I like Spring.

Lots of love,
Millie

Dear Spring

Hello there. Thanks for coming but I really wanted sun, not rain! Anyway, thanks to you Christchurch looks like a painted picture. You’re right, Spring is kind of on and off with rain. Just try to keep it warm though, I’d really appreciate that!

See you next time xxxooo,
Olivia

Dear Spring

I thought that you would open my heart on Tuesday. But when I open my curtains it was raining, and the old man was snoring. My family loves Spring because my sister’s, my Dad’s, and my Mum’s birthdays are in Spring.

From Will C.

Dear Spring

Hello Spring, my name is Ava. I wish you could be here all year, but no, there is rain not sun. You can do better please. Anyway thanks for coming, you’re right, Spring is a rainy season. The city is a lovely work of art in Spring. The daffodils at my house are coming out and I love it.

Love from,
Ava xo

Dear Spring

Spring you are my favourite season of the year. Where are you? It feels like it is still Winter. It is freezing down where we are, but the good news is you brought out my two favourite flowers, which are blossom and daisies. Me and my friends are helping you look after nature. I hope you will be back soon.

A White Rose???

That is how this rose started out! Tell your family and friends how it changed to a pinky one.
Why do you think the clear water is also turning a pinkish shade? Thanks Millie for sharing this interesting experiment and to Jules for remembering to take photos throughout the day.

Fabulous Friday Continued

Before we had our lunch we wanted to see if our caterpillars had settled into their new home well. Although we can't be sure which ones came from Room 17 they were all busy eating.
The Black Caps weren't the only Cricket team that had a big semi-final to win this week. The St Albans Girls A team played against Fendalton and won. We went out to support them. Millie's sister Bella and Will's sister Lucy were playing. We felt proud of their efforts. They will play the final at the Hagley Oval which is pretty great!
Who wouldn't win with fans like these?!?
