I have tried 100 times to get the colours right for this but it won't change!!!

What is Purple? by William M, Millie H-C and Charlie S

Purple is a lovely colour made from blue and red.

You will often find purple in the garden. Grapes, flowers and plums are all purple when they are ripe. Children's toys and clothes are often purple.  It is many people's favourite colour.

Lots of people think it's a girls' colour, but boys like it too.

Purple is an important colour. If we didn't have purple we couldn't have purple pencil cases.

What is Orange? by Max M, Lola and Harvey

Orange is the colour of the summer sun.

It is a bright cheerful colour to play with. We use it for a warning on bikes, cars and traffic lights, its brightness helps keep us safe. Orange is the colour of fire and lights - that is why it is a colour of happiness. Artists use orange to represent warmth, brightness and happiness in their pictures.

You can make orange by mixing red and yellow.

Orange is a colour that brightens our world.

What is Blue? by Josaiah, Millie S and Sophie

Blue is a colour that makes nature come to life.

Blue is the colour of the sky on a sunny day. In springtime blue pops into nature when bluebells appear. In Sumer the blueberries are blue too. The ocean is like a wavy blue blanket stretching to the edge of the world.

Sometimes when you get too cold in the ocean your lips turn blue.

Blue is a colour of Nature all year round.

What is Green? by William F, Marissa, Tahnul

Green is a colour of growth.

In springtime trees grow green leaves and the grass grows long. Many animals are green so they can be camouflaged. Parks are popular green spaces for people to play and have fun. 

We can make different shades of green by mixing blue and yellow.

Green is a fresh colour of nature.

What is Yellow? by Olivia, Tane and Nate

Yellow is a bright and cheerful colour that lights up the place you're in.

Yellow can mix with other primary colours to make secondary colours, for example if you mix it with red it will make orange. Yellow can show you where to put things like your yellow rubbish bin is for recycling. Yellow is the colour of golden coins which people like to spend to buy things. Many fruits are yellow when they are ripe like bananas and lemons.

The colour yellow is an extremely important colour which brightens our lives.

What is Pink? by Cameron, Matilda and Charlie R

Pink is a colour of beauty.

We use pink for lipstick and other beauty products. Pink is the colour of skin on a pig and many people have pinky coloured skin too. Blossoms and other flowers are often pink. Strawberry milkshakes are pink because they're made of white milk and red strawberries mixed together. 

Pink is really light red.

Pink is a lovely, pretty colour for everyone.

What is Black? by Will, Max, Violet and Leticia

Most people call black a colour, but really it is a very dark shade.

Black is the colour of the sky at night. Black is the colour of the rainbow - NO! Black is what you get when there is no colour or light.  Lots of people have black hair and most moustaches are black.

Black is the opposite of white.

Most people would say that black is the darkest colour there is.

In this picture the donkey has a red cross on his nose. Murphy is helping a wounded soldier get to safety. In the background there is some sort of fire in the mountains. I think the fire the background is a fire spilling down mountains. The donkey and Murphy are walking on a rocky cliff that looks very steep. In a background there are a couple of trees. Or are they rocks? The donkey has white hooves. The ground is very dry too. Murphy has a weird looking hat. It looks like a police hat. 

Max M

I see Murphy looking after a man that is injured from the war. I think Murphy is a doctor. I see lots of mist and fire from the war. I think Murphy is a hero because he looks after people in the war that are hurt. I wonder what that feels like, being a hero. 

Cameron

I can see two men on a mountain. I see fire in the background. I think they are trying to get to the top of the mountain for safety. I see a donkey with a red cross on its nose. I think that the donkey is helping injured people. 

Jonty

I see a donkey and a cross on his nose. I can see two soldiers. One is hurt. He is on a donkey.  The other one is walking. There is some fire from the fight. They are on a big massive mountain. I wonder if the donkey is still alive.

Millie

In this picture I see a man being injured. It looks like the donkey is a brown ambulance. The other man is lucky that he did not get injured. It looks like the fire and the smoke on the mountains has come from the fight. The fire and smoke is from the bullets that shot.

Sophie

In this picture I see a beautiful black donkey. I also see two men. One is hurt on the donkey, and the other one is helping him. They are standing on a dry cliff. In the background I see fire and smoke from people fighting on land. I think the red stuff on the donkeys nose is a cross. I think the man on the donkey is hurt or dead. 

Maltilda

In the photo I can see lots of smoke in the background and a man on Murphy the donkey. A vet is standing on the cliff. There is lots of blending in, and one of the men is hurt. The other man is holding him.

Josaiah

I see a red cross on the donkeys nose. I see two soldiers. One is shot, one is helping soldier that is shot. The shot soldier is on the donkeys back. The donkey is walking on a narrow cliff. In the background there is fire from the war. 

Harvey

There are two men. One is walking and one is on the donkey. The donkey has a cross on its nose. There is a volcano with lava and there is smoke. The donkey and the two men are on a cliff. 

Charlie R

I see a white shape around the donkeys nose, and a red cross on that. The soldier is walking on a cliff. I see a volcano in the background. Another man is hurt on the back of the donkey. 

Will

I see the sun in the background and hills too. There is a cross on the donkey so it looks like an ambulance. There is a man on the donkey that is dead. Behind the sun I see smoke. The donkeys ears are going up.

Marissa

I can see a man with a donkey. I can see that the donkey has a red cross on its nose. I can see a chair tied up on the donkey. The man is carrying a wounded man. There is a rock next to the man, and I can see that they are standing on a cliff. 

Lola

I can see a donkey. I can see a soldier with a sore leg. 

Andrea

I see a donkey and two men. One man is walking, the other man is on a donkey.

 In the background I see smoke and fire from the fighting. The donkey and the man are on a cliff next to a hill. The donkey has a red cross on his nose. The injured man has a cast on his leg from the war.

Latisha

I see a donkey. There are two men. One is riding a donkey and the other is walking next to the donkey. I see they are walking on a narrow path on the mountain. I thinks there’s fire behind the mountain because of the bombs from the war. I think one of the soldiers got very hurt because of all the fighting. I think it might be a bit smokey from all the fire. 

Violet

I see a red cross on the donkeys wrinkly nose. The soldier has a dark blue knitted top on. He is wearing overalls. The almond coloured ground glints in the sunlight. The erupting volcano in the background is probably a bad thing. The wounded soldier is on the black donkeys back. I can see how they’re on a very high mountain high off the ground. The misty background is a different effect. 

Ava

I see black smoke in the background from the fire. I see fire in the background from the fields. I see two men (one is injured) and a trained donkey. I see a cross on the donkeys nose from the hospital. 

William F

I see Murphy walking carefully on a cliff. I see Duffy’s red cross, that means Murphy works as a doctor. I see a little bit of volcano smoking through mist. The mist is from war. I see a man on the donkey who has a bandage on his right leg. The donkey is a beautiful black with grey hooves. I think Murphy is thinking about braveness, worry, and nervousness. 

Olivia

I see one injured soldier and a man helping the injured soldier on a donkey. They are walking on the side of a mountain. There is mist in the sky and the suns poking out. THe donkey has a cross on its nose. The injured soldiers leg has a bandage on it. 

Max A

I can see the donkey is carrying the injured soldier. I can see fire and smoke from the battlefields. I can see the donkey is walking on a cliff. In this story I think the injured man will feel very lucky and the injured man will feel very strong. 

William M

The donkey is Duffy. There are two men. Murphy is wearing a cool hat. The donkey is walking on the cliff. It has a cross on its nose. I can see light behind them. It might be a bomb. The man is a soldier in the war. 

Nate

I can see a harmed person with a donkey. There is a bandage on the persons leg. There is a man walking beside the donkey. One man is riding on the donkey. I can see fire and smoke. I see a cliff under the donkeys hooves. The donkey has a red cross on his nose. 

Tane

In March Ben came to talk to us about his experience of being Peter Pan. Afterwards we wrote him letters about his visit.
