Dear Spring...Part 1

Dear Spring

Hello Spring, we all were very excited about you coming, but when I looked out my window this morning it looked nasty. You made Christchurch glisten with blossoms and daffodils. But all of us were hoping for sunny days, not breezy, rainy, puddley days.
I hope you will come back around soon,

From Max M.

Dear Spring

Hiya Spring, are you here? Because if I just look out of the window it will be raining. Spring, I would like to see some sun on the day I am doing athletics because I will be in shorts and a singlet. I like your beautiful flowers and blossom. I like that you chose to make your season when the lambs are born and the calves are too.

Lots of love,
Max A, xox

Dear Spring

If you don’t know it’s only the first day of Spring. We want you to hurry up so we can get warm, and so we can go to the beach. Everyone probably wants the real Spring to come, not the old Winter. It’s like you got sick. We want you to come back.

Josaiah

Dear Spring

I hope you can fit in a sunny day today so me and Charlie can go to the gardens and see the spring flowers. I hope I can see some spring animals too. I love you Spring, for the flowers like blossoms, snowdrops, honeysuckle, poppies, tulips, winter roses, daphne, and daffodils.

From Cameron

Dear Spring,

I love the pretty blossom on the blog. The children are sitting on the spider web. I hope it will be sunny soon.

Love Andrea

Dear Spring... Part 2

Dear Spring

Oh dear Spring, I wish you will turn this sad place to a happy place. On the blog our front cover is about you, so can you turn the sad face to the happy face please? I think of you being sunny but you are rainy. I wish Will's old man doesn’t get hit again.

From William F.

Dear Spring

I think of you as cold and sometimes warm. You spring me up and I love how you let the baby animals come out and play. Did you know that my birthday is in spring? That is another reason why I like Spring.

Lots of love,
Millie

Dear Spring

Hello there. Thanks for coming but I really wanted sun, not rain! Anyway, thanks to you Christchurch looks like a painted picture. You’re right, Spring is kind of on and off with rain. Just try to keep it warm though, I’d really appreciate that!

See you next time xxxooo,
Olivia

Dear Spring

I thought that you would open my heart on Tuesday. But when I open my curtains it was raining, and the old man was snoring. My family loves Spring because my sister’s, my Dad’s, and my Mum’s birthdays are in Spring.

From Will C.

Dear Spring

Hello Spring, my name is Ava. I wish you could be here all year, but no, there is rain not sun. You can do better please. Anyway thanks for coming, you’re right, Spring is a rainy season. The city is a lovely work of art in Spring. The daffodils at my house are coming out and I love it.

Love from,
Ava xo

Dear Spring

Spring you are my favourite season of the year. Where are you? It feels like it is still Winter. It is freezing down where we are, but the good news is you brought out my two favourite flowers, which are blossom and daisies. Me and my friends are helping you look after nature. I hope you will be back soon.

From Matilda

Dear Spring... Part 3

Dear Spring

Hi Spring, where have you gone? Because it is raining here and it’s very cold. But I want you to know I love you flowers and I especially like the blossoms. Hopefully you come quite soon because I love the very warm sun.

William M

Dear Spring

I hope you bring sun today instead of rain. Cameron is taking me to the gardens. Thanks for the beautiful flowers like daffodils, roses, and apple trees.

From Charlie S.

Dear Spring

The flowers are amazing when you come in Spring, especially the daffodils. When you come there are calves and lambs, also piglets too. I think to myself, how amazing you are. I love you, I don’t want you to leave.

From Charlie R.

Dear Spring

I’ve been waiting for you, where have you been dude? Are you going to be warm in November? When is it going to be warm?

From Nate

Dear Spring
I always wonder what it would be like in spring. I thought it would be sunny or hot but it is cold and freezing today. In Spring I see wind blowing trees, and I can’t wait until it is hot. Thank you for the flowers blooming, swooping back and forwards. That is how I remember Spring.

Love from,
Marissa

Dear Spring

Why, sometimes, are you cold? We thank you for our baby animals and pets. I wonder what it would be like is Spring if it was always hot. We always love you Spring, no matter what we say. I love the flowers that you give us like daffodils, snowdrops, blossoms, tulips. These are some of the reasons we love you for.

From Violet

Dear Spring...Part 4

Dear Spring

I like how you make the days so long. What happened to you? Because on the first day it’s like you died. I wish you came back so we could have good weather forever. I love the pretty blossom on the trees.

Love from Tahnul

Dear Spring

I hope you sprout up our flowers. I’m so excited when it is October because it will be my birthday. Perhaps tomorrow will be more sunny.

From Sophie S

Dear Spring
You spring me up and I love how you let the baby animals come out and play. I know that you are my favourite season because you are cold days and hot days. I like sunny days because you make people happy and you have rainy days that make plants grow.

Lots of love,
Lola

Dear Spring

You are a lovely season. I love the baby reindeer and flowers too, because it makes the city shine. Hurry up it’s spring you crazy person.

From Harvey

Dear Spring

I would really like you to give us sun because it has been a lovely time since you have come. I love daffodils and baby lambs but I want sun! Because I want to be warm. I love you Spring, for everything.

From Leticia

Dear Spring

Where are you? It is more like winter. Spring is supposed to be warm and hot. I like looking at the deer when I go on holiday. I hope it is sunny tomorrow.

Odes to Librarians

Ava and Olivia worked with Greg from the School of Young Writers on Monday. They wrote an ode to a librarian.

Oh Librarians,
We watch you love, live, and be happy
we love your glow to other people

Oh Librarians,
We listen to you reading wonderful stories
full of adventures with your brains aglow

Oh Librarians,
We thank you for your humour,
fun, and amazingness
you are all beyond compare

Oh Librarians,
You are computers
You are a pick-a-path story
that never ends.

By Ava

Oh Librarians,
We watch you organise our books tidily
you scan our books for us
and you're always helping people
find the book for them

Oh Librarians,
We listen to you
Oh! Do you have your library card?
If you do, I can help.
Or can I help you, madam?

Oh Librarians,
We thank you for giving
up your time and effort
just to please your guests
and you are very generous

Oh Librarians,
You are flowers to me -
your pollen really lights up the library.

Wheels Day for Year Threes and Fours

Bring your wheels and helmets tomorrow for Wheelie Day!
Use it or lose it!

7000!

This took longer to reach than we expected because we haven't been posting our news as often as usual. Let's try to do better this month!

Spring has Sprung

Well it's been a long time since the last blog post! End of Winter and start of Spring can be a bad time for sickness and it seems it has been for Room 17 this year. Anyway it's good to be back on deck and to have most people at school most days again.
You will have noticed our new background and header photo. On Tuesday we all felt a little bit disappointed that it seemed more like Winter than Spring so we wrote letters to Spring to welcome and encourage her.
Here is Jack typing up your stories last night. Today you will have to give them a final edit and then we'll publish them here.
