Ten Sided Dice

I found this post on the Room 18 blog and thought I'd add it to ours as well - thanks Mrs deVries!

The Art of Community

Have you been to the office lately? This is the wonderful sight that will greet you.
I have found where my one is - have you?

Massage Circle

What a lovely way to finish our swimming session today. Jonty, Marissa, Harvey and William M organised a massage circle for us. They got the instructions from a story they read.
What did you like the best? Perhaps it was the thunder and lightning or maybe the hugs at the end.

Fabulous Faces

Have you been noticing faces in the environment around you? I thought the front of the Orbiter looked like a face when I saw it last week.

More Graph News

Yesterday for maths we created bar graphs.
Can you make some "I see...", "I think...because...", and "I wonder..." statements about these graphs?
Today we wrote a question that we could ask our buddy class. We chose 4 options for them to choose from for an answer.
Some examples were: What is your favourite colour ? What is your favourite food?
The next challenge was writing two I think...because..., statements and one I wonder... statement.
After lunch we went to Room 2 and asked them the questions and recorded their answers using tally marks.
Tomorrow we'll have a look at our results and see if our predictions were correct or not.

Birthday Graphs

On Monday we created a graph that tells us all about when the Room 17 birthdays are.  We were surprised that August and September had no birthdays in them at all!
Room 17
Ava remembered that in her class last year there were many birthdays in October and now we only have two.
These things made us wonder what the other Year 3 classes' birthday graphs looked like. We sent out some reporters to take photos with that information in them.
Room 16
Room 18
What do you notice about the different classes birthdays and what does it make you wonder?

Reminder

Could you make sure all your clothing is named please? It takes ages to work out which shirt belongs to which body if there's a mix up! There were loads of "no name" shirts on Room 17 boys today.

Can You Help?

Tomorrow Ms Dowd is going to be doing some work with you about this book.
If you have a copy of it at home could you please bring it to school tomorrow?

Orphan Elephants

One group began reading about what happens to baby elephants when their mothers are killed for their tusks.
This video shows what happens to the babies when they are ready for the next stage in their lives. In the future extra reading links like this will be found on our "Extra Reading Links" page.
